My 2010 bighorn. Tough pack up cliff-bands in the dark. I found him in the morning and came back for him in the evening with friends. We got the whole thing on video! Tough steep downhill shot, but it all came together.

2010 Dall Sheep....way harder hunt than last year's sheep. 8 days in the field, spent two nights out without a tent, butchered until 1 o' clock in the morning and packed back to spike camp until 6:30 in the morning....well worth it!!!

The night hunt we had bulls everywhere. We played with this bull for about 2 hours and then after pushing him he finally decided to come in. I was set up and dad was back behind me calling. I ranged my distances and looked up over the rock I was hiding behind and spotted an elk so I quietly spun towards the side he was coming and was all set. He came walking down, stopped to bugle and then came out into my shooting lane. I pulled back and as he cleared the branches I stopped him and pulled the trigger. After watching him for a while my uncle came up and asked if I had shot him. He said that he was a pig and was bigger than my dad's. When I shot I didn't even pay attention to how big he was I was just determined to get me a bull. We gave him a while and when went and found him I was in awe... He was a 5x7, the one side was broken off. I was on Cloud 9!

He scored just under 300 without the deductions... but if that one side was on there he would of been a 330 bull...

If you watch the brag board you've surely noticed that Mr. McCollum posts some nice fish (along with a dig or two at his "old man.") Obviously, the old man got him hooked on some good habits and taught him well. Here is just one of many fish he has landed this summer and although he may tell you it was at "No Name Creek" don't believe him. I fish "No Name Creek" and bass like that hang out somewhere else. Nice catch!

Member Dane (Danger) sent us this photo with a little information.
After giving up himself his fishing partner said "one last cast'', upon taking that cast she turned and said "that is how its done!" O.k. I fabricated that last part, she didn't need to say a word merely hold up her 7# ish largemouth and smile! Well done!

It was the evening of October 23rd and I was preparing my hunting gear to hunt one of my stands in the morning. This was the first time I would be hunting this stand this year. The weather forecast was dismal! The forecast called for torrential downpours on and off all day. Great, I have never had any luck in weather like this. At least, this would give me an opportunity to try out my new tree umbrella. I had a long week at work and I couldn’t wait until morning to get out there, no matter what the weather was.

The 2008 archery season started off pretty slow here in the Flathead with above average temperatures and little to no moisture. With temps reaching into the mid 70s by the afternoon i found myself not venturing too far from the vehicle. September 13th my brother decided we should try a spot that we had never hunted during archery season, although we knew elk were there from time to time. It’s one of those places that you plan on hitting at least once or twice but never get around to, the memory of the bark stripped trees and mangled brush that litter the landscape haunting your dreams.

This buck was taken within the last hour of the last day of the 2009 season.  I had resolved in my mind to take a doe at about noon that day and had seen absolutely no deer until this one came along and graced me with a nice set of antlers.

The hunt started out on a beautiful Tuesday afternoon.  A buddy of mine that had just returned home from a tour in Afghanistan was along with me.  We had hunted this particular chunk of land for about a week and not seen much elk sign.  There had been a few cows in and out of the area but we were not able to spot a bull all week.  With our motivation down but knowing that we had to be out in the woods to tag something, we set out on an adventure we won't soon forget.

I grew up hunting mule deer in southeastern Idaho. I learned to hunt on horseback at around 7 years of age. It was my job to tend to the horses when the shooting was going on. I had never even seen a whitetail until my family and I moved to Montana because of my job in 2002. For the last six years I have hunted in and around the Flathead Valley venturing as far south as Thompson Falls and as far north as Eureka. I have taken many whitetail deer over the years in Montana, just never what I considered a trophy. I know there are bigger bucks than mine taken every year in Montana, but this one is my monster.
